Superior's PureHeat Technology
- Superior's patented PureHeat technology combines unprecedented cleanliness, reliability and realism in an unvented gas fireplace. Pioneered by Superior, PureHeat technology uses a special Corning Long-Life catalytic combustor to eliminate carbon monoxide (CO) and other emissions before they enter the room. No chimney or venting system is necessary, so all the warmth produced by a catalytic fireplace goes into the room not up the chimney, resulting in 99.9% heat efficiency. No chimney also means reduced construction and installation costs. The Corning catalytic combustor was tested for a period equal to over 20 years of normal residential use without compromising its effectiveness. In addition to the Catalyst, PureHeat technology employs redundant safety features such as the Oxygen Depletion Sensor (ODS), and a sealed glass enclosure to assure that indoor air quality will not be compromised. Fireplaces with PureHeat technology also reduce or eliminate unpleasant odors sometimes associated with other unvented fireplaces.
